Kurtz's rigorous examination happens most evidently with the edge profile of the bench, normally a subtle finishing detail on a piece of furniture. In 'Waveform', the edge profile is amplified and transformed into a dramatic sculptural gesture. This piece is finished in cornflower blue milk paint, a beautiful nod to an early American finish used on Windsor chairs.
