Emilie Brzezinski would often cast her work in bronze. Many of her larger works; Lament, Arch on Flight and Totems have been cast in bronze and are gracing public spaces around the world. This bowl possesses a captivating sense of impossibility—exactly how we feel when we experience Emilie’s trunks. The scoring of the trunks is one of Emilie’s methods to reveal the history of each trunk, displaying a tree’s age lines from every angle, including the bark on one section. Emilie’s chainsaw and chisel carve, with the cuts of the tools emphasizing the perfect lines marking each year of the tree’s life.
