Laura Demichelis

Overview

Laura Demichelis born and raised in Provence, in the south of France, and trained at École Boulle in Paris in bronze craftsmanship. Her final piece before graduation, "Dérive" won her first place in the Prix Avenir Métiers d'Art given by the Institut National des Métiers d'Art to exceptionally talented young craftspeople. The piece was noted for its originality and mastery of wood and bronze turning techniques.

She spent several years working in the atelier of Herve van der Straeten before heading to Asia to study their various bronze traditions. It was on this trip that she became inspired by the endless creative possibilities inherent in bronze. She now crafts limited edition works and bespoke pieces in her atelier in Toulouse. Her work conveys a free-flowing organic nature, while maintaining a well-honed sense of proportion, symmetry, and scale. Each piece is meticulously crafted and each detail is precisely thought out.
