Jeff Nimeh
Jeff Nimeh is a ceramic artist working in porcelain to create stunning lighting pieces.
Each lamp is an extraordinary exercise in ceramic craftsmanship, with every porcelain component—including the base, dimmer knob and housing, socket cups, finial, and shade—formed on the potter’s wheel. Nimeh formulates and mixes his own porcelain in the studio, allowing him to achieve a precise degree of control over the material’s color and translucency.
The collection comprises ten table lamps and a floor lamp, united by a quiet elegance and a remarkable attention to detail. Their forms are restrained and sculptural, balancing a sense of simplicity with the subtle irregularities that distinguish the handcrafted. Gentle undulations in the shades and bodies lend each piece a sense of individuality, while the finely articulated knobs and finials speak to Nimeh’s exceptional technical prowess.
Perhaps the collection’s most compelling feature is the porcelain shade, whose translucency transforms the light into a soft glow. Rather than casting a harsh glare, the illuminated porcelain emits a warm radiance, made all the more beautiful by the delicate, rippling striations that trace its surface. The shades can also tilt, allowing for the user to shine light where they need or to create a different composition. The result is lighting that feels at once elemental and refined, surprising and traditional, where material, form, and light are brought into perfect harmony.
