Geraldine Larkin

Overview

Geraldine Larkin has taken traditional embroidery techniques and used her architectural background to turn them into contemporary works of art. The hand embroidered textiles for interiors are couture pieces, small scale art installations that elevate hand embroidery to the vanguard of design. After working for more than twenty years for fashion houses in London, Paris, New York and Milan Geraldine has turned her unerring eye to home textiles and furniture.

Wardrobe doors, wall hanging, furniture, curtains, cushions and now mid-century sofas and chairs with richly embellished backs are adorned with Geraldine’s fluid and intelligent designs. Each piece is custom made and due to the nature of hand embroidery is unique. One cushion may take 65 hours to make while a sofa back 1600 hours. Every individual stitch and bead is integral to the design, all artworks are originated by Geraldine and refined from conception to completion. All the work produced is carefully guided by Geraldine who firmly believes that excellence and precision is a priority at every stage of the hand crafted process. Passionate about modern interpretations of this artisanal skill, Geraldine’s mastery with colour, virtuosity and great technical aptitude imbues the textiles with an esoteric quality.
