VIEW WILL'S COLLECTION
William Coggin is a ceramic artist working at the intersection of sculpture and functional design. He specializes in furniture, lighting and custom installations (ie wall reliefs/tiles, sculpture, architectural, etc). He is well-known for his Pseudopodia series, lava-glazed forms inspired by the temporary arm-like structures that single cellular organisms use to move. Many of his works possess an organic feel, embracing the subtle movement and uniqueness that results in pieces made by hand.
Custom shapes and sizes can be made with certain limitations depending on kiln size. Lead times can vary depending on the complexity and size of the piece being made. For smaller items the lead time can be 6-8 weeks, and large pieces can vary between 8-14 weeks. Larger projects that involve custom design will be quoted based on scope and the amount of sampling / research / development required.
Maintenance and care:
Cleaning of glazed ceramics is best done with soft dry or lightly damp cloth. If necessary, a natural non-abrasive cleaning agent can be used. Removing dust on a regular basis is helpful. Glazed pieces can typically be used outdoors, however please check on whether the specific glaze type you're interested in is suitable for this location.
There are a number of glaze colors available to customize a piece by Will Coggin, and the collection of glazes is always growing. Below you will find a review of the current glaze types available, past projects, and links to his collection page and catalogue. Note that there is always an element of chance and variability involved in commissioning custom ceramic pieces. This is the beauty of the process and no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
